It’s the coverage every care home wants and strives to achieve, a positive news story about your home being picked up by the local media. But what about when your story hits the national headlines and then goes viral?
That’s exactly what happened to national care provider HC-One when a story about their residents captured the hearts of the nation. Mother and son, Ada and Tom, live together in Moss View Care Home in Liverpool and their story is very unique. National papers were quick to spot the story, which was first published in a regional paper, The Liverpool Echo.
Within a couple of days the story had gone viral and was being seen on worldwide newsrooms as far as South Africa and America. The news story was trending and it reached millions of people across the world.
Leading newspapers including The Times, the Independent and the Mail Online covered Tom and Ada’s story, as well as other news platforms such as msn and even UNILAD.
And then came the broadcast media. Moss View Care Home appeared on ITV’s Granada Reports, the regional TV news programme for North West England, as well as receiving interest from other national broadcast outlets.
So how did the story begin?
The GD PR & Media team were privileged to be able to work on this story from the very beginning. By working closely with HC-One we were made aware of Tom and Ada and recognised this as a story that could capture the attention of local news and broadcast media.
