Meet Maya...

We’re thrilled to have recently added Maya to the Conteur team and we thought we’d give you a chance to get to know her a bit better, so we gave her a good grilling on all things Maya…

What do you love about PR & communications?

I have always been fascinated by communication, in whatever shape, form or language. It’s what I think sets relationships in motion and maintains them. And that’s basically what PR is all about, just…communicating! I love it because it gives me a chance to put what I love into practice on a daily basis.

Why did you want to join Conteur?

As someone who comes from a family of entrepreneurs, I have an idea of what it’s like to have a growing family-run business and, to me, there’s something particularly appealing about it. I also carried work experience at Conteur in the past and I just loved the atmosphere. It was somewhere I could definitely see myself working in.

What are you most looking forward to about working with Conteur?

I’m really looking forward to learning more about the different areas of Conteur as time goes by and improving my skills. I’m also very excited to make some lovely memories with the team!

What's your favourite social media channel and why?

YouTube is definitely my favourite. It has so much content that I could easily spend hours on it! I usually start off with music and all of a sudden I’m watching a cheetah nursing a little monkey. Just brilliant.

If you had to give up one form of social media, which one would it be and why?

For personal use, I’d probably give Facebook up. As fun as it was a couple of years back, it doesn’t seem to appeal to me as much anymore. I can’t give up the funny videos on it, though! They’re the only reason I’m still on it!

What’s the best thing you’ve read / watched / listened to recently?

I’ve been binge-watching the American version of The Office recently, it’s amazing! I’m also reading The Tattooist of Auschwitz and would absolutely recommend it, it’s worth the read. TED Talks are something I’m very much into and try to listen to them whenever I have the time. I have recently listened to one by Lera Boroditsky called “How language shapes the way we think” and as a polyglot, anything on languages tends to naturally amaze me!

Could you describe yourself in three words?

Loyal, honest, dependable.

Give us 3 random facts about yourself

I am wildly in love with mashed potatoes (which I think are incredibly underrated), I used to live by the ocean and that’s one of the things I miss the most, and I absolutely love dancing.

What’s your party trick?

I’m usually the one watching the party tricks (easily entertained) rather than performing them, so don’t think I have one!!! Is that sad?!

What do you do to de-stress?

I run myself a bubble bath, put my dressing gown on and watch my favourite TV shows.

Where’s your dream holiday destination and why?

Anywhere with crystal clear waters and heat. I was born and raised in Brazil so sunshine and warmth make me very happy!
